Is Floyd Mayweather the G.O.A.T

Watching Floyd Mayweather dominate Shane Mosley gave me a new found respect for him a few weeks back.

I originally could not stand him but he’s starting to grow on me.

So what makes him so special?

What makes him possibly one the Greatest Boxers of All Time.

What has allowed him to have a 40-0 recored and make other future hall of fame boxers look like they don’t belong in the ring with him.

Read on because it can help you be better at what you do as well.

Here’s what I feel separates him.

Besides reaching a mastery level at his craft Floyd also  has a team of master level coaches.

From boxing trainers, strength trainers, financial advisors etc… Floyd has it all.

It’s no coincidence either that many of his coaches are Masters as well.

In fact every highly successful and prosperous person I know of has a team of master level coaches.

Can you learn something this?

Do you have a nutritionist?

Do you have a personal trainer?

Do you have a financial advisor?

If you don’t you may want to re-think that.

Floyd speaks his mind and is brutally honest.

He gets lots of flack for this but at least people know where they stand.

Calling out Manny Pacquia for using PED gets him a lot of flack but can you really argue with his position?

I mean who else would turn down 20 million dollars because they don’t want to take a blood test.

He uses his instinct in and out the ring?

Floyd uses his instinct when he fights and when he is out of the ring which tells me that he really is in tune with his body and listens to it.

He trains at the weirdest times like 3 AM or 8PM.

Crazy? Maybe but I think it’s just Floyd listening to his body and letting himself be guided.

Do you do this?

Do you listen to your body and let it guide you to success?

Or do you fall victim to useless habits like watching the 6 & 11 O’clock News?

I’d love to hear what you think?

Well I think Floyds work ethic in the gym is beyond reproach. But is life style is something different and I dis like his arrogant personality. He does have the ability to be an all time great but he needs to step up to the plate.Fighting Mosely was a good start, but Mosely is very old for a welter weight, most retire by 37 years old.He needs to fight and defeat Andre Burto, and Manny Pacquiao. I f he does that he can stand tall next to the likes of sugar ray leonard, sugar ray robinson, armstrong, and duran,. But must defeat at least 3 top 5 welters to be able call himself an all time great. He has defeated some good fighters, but not the elite welters .

Virgil, I’d have to agree with you. Although Floyd is a divisive figure, I think he is very calculated as well. Floyd knows what sells tickets and what wins fights. The mental games plays an important role in boxing. It makes me think of the days of Tyson. Many of his opponents were beat before they even stepped into the ring.

Floyd listens to his body and is one of the hardest working guys in Boxing. His training sessions are amazing to watch. And although he may not make for the most exciting fights, the fact that he can take an excellent boxer completely out of his games is amazing to watch. Why stand toe to toe and take a bunch of punishment for a paycheck, if you can come up with a strategy to pick your opponent apart all while limiting the amount of punishment you take? Sounds like Floyd has it down to me…no matter what the naysayers say.

    Thanks for sharing Joe

I think most people underestimate Floyd as I have for some time now.

The only fighter I’d say he has to beat is Pac-Man

I’d like to see him fight Paul Williams as well

I don’t think Andre Burto in his league as yet and won’t get a fight with him unless he gets a few more impressive wins.

As I continue to watch boxing with great interest I’m starting to become a fan of Floyd.

Simply because I appreciate mastery and he’s a master at taking away a boxers game plan.

He also showed strength & power in the Mosley fight which many don’t him credit for.

He’s certainly knows hot to market himself as he has become the big draw now.

Floyd no doubt is one of greatest pound for pound boxer at the moment, however, he needs to put a finish to that nagging questions as to whether he can defeat Manny Paquiao who is likewise arguably the best and has proven this in several weight divisions by currently winning all 7 weight categories. This feat is unprecedented by the way. I need to correct you though that Manny does not want to take a blood test. He wants the standard tests where blood is taken not days before or even on fight night itself but the standard test. Manny has likewise agreed to have his blood samples taken immediately after the fight to prove that he is not taking drug enhancers. It has something to do with his belief (some call it quirks of some athletes) that he looses some strength if blood is taken too near the fight and might affect his punching power. A lot of analysts believe that Floyd used this excuse to postpone the fight in lieu of a tune up bout with Mosley because he has not fought for a while, before taking Paquiao on. I think that was smart and has even made the imminent meeting of these two champions a potential financial bonanza for both, win or loose. My fearless forecast, Manny Pacquio will knock out Mayweather and hopefully retire as the greatest boxer of all time if he is not one already.
