    1. Need to loose 6Kg (currently 96Kg but I am 1.9 metres tall)
    2. Need to work on my hill work as even if I reduce to 90Kgs I still have a disdvantage over those lean bastards of 70-75Kgs
    3. Think I might try and get into the vets category this year for over 55′s as I turn 59 in July and riding in the open category means I am lucky in a major race if I start anywhere higher than I-category, which means that I am competing with all the youngsters and lightweights! Not to say that there are some VERY tough and experienced vets around but it might give me a leg up.
    4. Want to try and get below 3.5 hours for the Argus (largest times race in the world (107kms wiht approx 35000 entrants. Have done 8 with my best time of 3.27 so I need to try and get below that. The ideal would be to crack a sub-3 but I think in terms of my age and ability (remembering that I only started riding 8 years ago at the age of 50!)that might be a tall order.
You have a good 2010 and look forward to your book.
    Rergards Iain

    Hello Guys,
I am a third year student and an avid fan and (with all due to respect to weight training), promoter of bodyweight training. My basic goal is to build a good strong platform for being able to start learning Parkour, which needs good stamina and strength, and all my other goals revolve around it and here are they:

(The figures in bracket show my current status)

1)(a). I want to do 60 repetitions of Decline Finger Push Ups by March end 2010.(25),
    (b) Followed by 10 repetitions of One Arm Push Ups by June end 2010.(0)

2)(a) I want to 25 repetitions of Standard Pull Ups by March end 2010.(7),
    (b) Followed by 10 repetitions of One Arm Pull Ups by June end 2010.(0)

3)(a) I want to do 15 repetitions of Handstand Push Ups by February end 2010.(1)

4)(a) I want to do 100 repetitions of Squats by February end 2010.(40),
    (b) Followed by 50 repetitions of One Legged Squats by April end 2010.(10)

5). I want to make my abdominals, pectorals and latissimus dorsi more visible by increasing lean muscle mass and reducing fat to under 10% (15%), and maintaining weight below 80kgs. (69kgs)

On Acheiving these goals I would reward myself with one Pull Up Bar and A Heavy Duty Resistance band for (a) goals and two Large sandbags for (b) goals.

And I know I will have to be like a Postage Stamp: STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE……………..

My 2010 goals are to recover from kidney issues I had in 2009, get back to my 3-4 days in the gym lifting weights, and back to walking at least 5 times a week (could not due this while kidney was not functioning) I also wish to lose the 3-5 lbs. gained and re-tone this ole body. In addition, I am going to return to drinking 60-80 oz. of water per day, track my food, and incorporate more organic foods into my diet.

Set my priorities. Make the most important things in life first, not second or even last. Giving of myself is first, helping others including my family and friends. Giving of myself requires a strong and healthy body, but also mind.

  18. Christina
    January 1st, 2010 at 05:49 | #18

Eat cleaner, reduce salt intake and get more rest. Try to stress out less so I can lose 20 pounds and run a faster 5K race and a sub 8 minute mile again. Strengthen my core–improve my bench— and do some unassisted pull-ups.

    Happy New Year Virgil!

I’m giving up sugar for the entire year. That’s the main thing in my diet that’s killing me and I’m going to take control of my health this year. Also think I’m going to compete in a fitness competition, that way I have a goal and I MUST whip my body into shape.

Sugar is a great thing to give up.

The average american eats 100 pounds a year and it was only 5 pounds 100 years ago.

Can you see why we have so many problems.

Joining a competition is also a great idea.

Thanks a bunch for sharing ;)

I plan to get back to my healthy size of a 32 waist. I plan to lose all my stomach fat and butt fat. That means I’ll have to lose at least 60 points. Started before Xmas and my big pants are substantially looser as of Jan. 1. I will continue on this quest. I am prediabetic also so my doctor swore me off of sugary stuff.

Cheers Virgil, happy new year to you too!! My New Year’s goals are to stick with getting fit and into shape longer than I did last year, and year before, and year before that etc!!
I have a few challenges to aim for: a charity 10k run, a charity walk called the 3 peaks challenge which is walking up and down the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, Wales and England in 24hrs. Plus my Cricket team has maded it into the top league in the county which is quite a step up so hoping/wanting to build up more stregnth and speed for bowling to compete well at that standard.
First goal to lose the 14+pounds I’ve put on since the summer!

My goals for the New Year are to get a little exercise each day, even if it’s only 10 minutes. To get to work by 8:00 am every workday, get out of bed at 6:00 am and to continue to limit the processed foods in my diet.

  44. Tim Miller

I lost 20 pounds last year and gained some muscle mass, especially in my chest, arms, and legs. I still have a little fat around my middle, I’d guess 5 pounds. My goal is to lose that and see if there are any abs down there!

Eat healthier – no fast foods, no late night peanut butter snacks, less processed foods during regular meals – hope to get more definition by losing last bit of skinfold fat.

Complete Kettlebell snatch protocol (7 sets of 30 left/30 right). I worked up to 4 sets then got sidetracked.

Vary my cardio by crosstrainng – including running, biking and bodyweight exercises every week.
