Why walking is awesome

First a little inspiration: “Walking is man’s best medicine” Hippocrates (460 BC – 377 BC)

While the benefits of walking are not so glamourous like lets say the benefits from strength training (Increased strength, fat loss etc…) It’s important to understand there is a lot more to optimal health than just fat loss and muscle building. That’s not what walking is really for although some people can gain muscle if they are just beginning a walking program.

First of all we are designed to walk and doing so sets in motion movement through out the body. This improves your circulation, helps to facilitate detoxification and even improves your digestion.

They say the man that walks after a meal will live to be 100 years old.

Certainly words of wisdom.

Another great thing about walking is how you feel during and afterwards.

You get to witness your surroundings in real time and become one with your environment.

Remember we are not separate from our surroundings and walking is a great way to reconnect to this fact.

Recently I started my morning feeling down because of a family problem the night before and walking made a big difference in my mood.

I could have driven to work but knew it would be best to walk and clear my mind.

As I walked to work I got a chance to witness an amazing morning sky.

The kind that makes you say there is a GOD.

As I finished my walk and got to work I felt a great sense of peace and I realized that in the grand scheme of things my family problem was really no big deal and I simply over reacted.

I then began to talk to myself about how much love, abundance and love I have in my life and felt very grateful.

I’m not so sure I this would have happened if I simply drove to work.

So make sure to get your walking in because there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

As Always Best In Strength & Health
